Last year on Twitter, I had the privilege of being hit up by Atlanta tattoo artist Rikky Castillo. He said that he wanted to tat me. I was very honored especially after I went to http://rikkycastillo.com/ and saw his work. I was blown away with what I saw. I knew I had to let him tat me. We could never work out a good ay for him to come to North Carolina and then we lost contact. He hit me back up a few weeks ago right after the launch of the spring issue of Choclate City Magazine. I reached out to him and he told me he was still wanted to ink me. He was like he would be coming my way on his way to New York. He asked me to see if anybody else wanted some ink and he would tat them also. So he finally decided on a day he would be here and called me to let me know. For some damn reason I thought he said he was coming on a Saturday but he said Thursday. I really didn’t think he was going to come. You know how people tell you one thing and then do another? So I put out blast via text, twitter, face book and bbm. I had to work that day so we talked via text. Once he told me that he was on the road, I knew it was going down. I got off work and waited for him to touch down so we could get it popping. I came home and took a shower and got ready. I hit all my friends up to let them know where we were going to be. We went to J Butler’s to eat and talk concepts. I had no clue what the hell I wanted. We talked about covering up my jail house tat and I showed him the tat I had on my back. We went back to his room and prepared to get ready. He had everything already laid out waiting for me. I decided to give him total creative control, He said he wanted the tat to represent me to the fullest. He had been reading my blogs and getting a feel for my personality. So he took out a red sharpie and started free styling on my thigh. It caught me completely off guard. I stood up as he drew on my leg not realizing how big the tat was going to be. The last time I had a tat was 12 years ago so I was long over due. Once the drawing was complete, he had me lay on the side of the bed. He talked me through the setup of what he was about to do so I would feel 100% comfortable. Everything was very clean. He took the needle out of the package and inserted it into the gun. He started doing the outline and that shit hurt. I was asked where was the numbing crème he talked so much about. He put some of it on and that shit did not numb anything. I felt everything. He finished the outline and cleaned it off and took a lil breather so I could catch my breath. Then he continued on to the shading. That hurt also but I sucked it up. I thought my ass was going to be tweeting while being tatted but I was wrong as fuck. I barley managed to take pictures so I could share them with everyone. When he did the shading he changed needles to a fresh one. It took about 2 hours for him to complete my tat. I didn’t make him stop or act like a cry baby, I was a solider. Once he was done and I saw my leg, I was in shock. I couldn’t believe my crazy ass actually went through with it or how big it was. I was extremely happy at the tat. Its meaning described me perfectly. I shared the experience on twitter, face book, and bbm so that others could use him for their next tat. I worked because once he touched down in NY and few of my fans linked up with him and got tats also. So im very happy that through my positive experience, others were able to have to same outcome. Now I’m ready to host my own tat party and have Ricky come through and do his thing. Seeing is believing and I am walking proof that his know his shit. Now a lot of my friends are hitting me up for his services. He is the official tattoo artist for Choclate City Radio.
